"The Art Renewal Center (ARC) was founded in 2000 by a group of artists, art collectors, historians, and enthusiasts,
and is chaired by Fred Ross. It is a visual arts organization which advocates the rejection of Modernism and the current
art establishment, in favor of what it defines as the previously established "standards of craftsmanship and excellence".
The ARC sees the acquisition of academic skills as being essential for the art of the future.[8] It operates
primarily through a web site sponsored by Fred Ross, a millionaire New Jersey businessman and art collector,
who is a strong campaigner for its ideas.[1]"

Reflections from the Artist: Summer in my garden brings the most delightful experiences and Pride of Barbados is one of the most spectacular flowering plants that can be viewed from my solarium. Its flowers are vibrant yellow, orange, and fiery red. I knew there must be an enchanting way to combine this most spectacular flora and my beloved niece and model, Shasta Chez’ who had just recently renewed her vows. These two exquisite subjects intertwined into the painting, ‘Blossoms for the Bride’.

Master Pastel Artists from all over the world at the 2e Congrès Européen des Pastellistes in St Florent le Vieil, and at the Festival International du Pastel in Feytiat.
As a young girl, I dreamed of studying art in Paris, but as often happens, life took me on a different path and my art studies were conducted at Abilene Christian University in Abilene, Texas. Now, as a professional artist, I will be meeting the people of France and experiencing their wonderful culture and beautiful art first hand."
About Pastel
"There is nothing more tactile than pulling a soft pastel over a rough surface. The colors are so rich and the textures so varied. I love its versatility and luminosity. It is like no other medium for creating art." ~ D.K. Richardson
D.K. Richardson has been a dedicated artist for over 46 years And although realism has been her focus, the true challenge of her craft is capturing the essence of character, beyond photography, the true identity.
For over 3.7 million years humans have portrayed their story on cave walls, papyrus, linen, and silk in their fundamental need to leave their legacy for a measure of historical eternity.
Influenced by masters of their craft, such as Rembrandt, Da Vinci, Rubens, and Vermeer, Richardson continually strives to obtain a higher level of proficiency in portraiture.
Dabbling in impressionism and non-representational works, she always returned to her love of realism. Her work is a hybrid of contemporary and classical portraiture.
